During the last years numerous publications about clinical, endocrinologic, histologic, and animal experimental examinations for maldescensus have been made intending to find the most favourable time of therapy for obtaining fertility later on. Since the results partially differ considerably and even the findings in their prospective meaning are not easy to interpret, the right time is still under dispute, particularly because it is hardly possible to determine the limitation of inborn dysgenesis against acquired degenerative changes caused by a dystop position. The unanimous opinion exists for the scrotal position of the testicles to be repaired at least until puberty.
